Job summary

Plainfield Health Care Center is seeking a friendly Maintenance Assistant to oversee facility maintenance, ensuring a sanitary, attractive, and orderly environment. The role reports to the Plant Supervisor or Operations Manager and ensures compliance with state regulations.

The position requires a high school diploma and knowledge of maintenance procedures, with 2+ years in long-term care preferred. Benefits accompany full-time employment, and the work is on-site at the Plainfield facility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Knowledge of laundry, housekeeping and maintenance procedures.
• Experience in long-term care is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular safety inspections and weekly walk-throughs in high-risk areas.
• Follow Life Safety and Preventative Maintenance tasks per regulations; document as required.
• Prepare monthly preventive maintenance schedule and allocate time for daily duties.
• Maintain center profile and facility history with complete maintenance records.
• Keep logs and documentation per Life Safety Manual and OSHA requirements.
• Conduct daily rounds and establish work priority; manage work orders in TELS.
• Maintain electrical and mechanical equipment in good working order; lubricate and clean parts.
• Lubricate furniture; report serious failures to Administrator.
• Investigate causes of wall/door/frame damage.
• Check lighting, temperatures, circuits, coolers/freezers, and nurse call systems; perform repairs as needed.
• Ensure adequate maintenance supplies are on hand for daily tasks.
• Prepare resident rooms for new or discharged residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
