Job summary

Southland Health Care Center is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and life-safety checks while supporting residents with a respectful environment.

The role covers general repairs, electrical upkeep, healthcare-specific duties, safety compliance, groundskeeping, and timely work orders. Strong physical ability and a high school diploma are preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic handyman skills in repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Experience in healthcare or long-term care is a strong plus.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; able to stand and move around facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs: plumbing, drywall, carpentry, doors/windows.
• Maintain electrical & HVAC systems, replace bulbs and outlets.
• Support healthcare routines: oxygen concentrators, cleaning, and room moves.
• Support safety and compliance: test fire alarms, assist with drills, ensure regulations.
• Maintain outdoor areas: groundskeeping and waste removal; document tasks.
