Job summary

Milwaukee County is seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Worker for the Community Reintegration Center. The role focuses on repair and maintenance of buildings and grounds to ensure a safe, secure environment for staff and inmates.

The position requires Wisconsin residency, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, and at least one year of related maintenance experience. Training on first shift precedes a 9am-5pm schedule, with overtime and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• Residency within Wisconsin required.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of work experience in Facility Maintenance, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical or HVAC required.
• Background check required before interview.

Responsibilities

• Lawn maintenance and landscaping: mowing, trimming, weed control, pond and lot upkeep.
• Process work orders for service or repairs in the facility.
• Snow removal: operate plow trucks, loaders, shovels, and snow blowers.
• Assist contractors and visitors, monitor tool control and security.
• Support special projects and implement new ideas in the facility.
• Maintain and repair laundry plant equipment and related systems.
• Properly remove waste from grounds; manage disposal.
• Safely operate dump trucks, plow trucks, loaders, forklifts, transport vans, buses, power tools and computers.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
