Job summary

West Virginia Division of Corrections is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to plan, organize, and direct upkeep of a correctional facility in West Virginia. The role involves supervising skilled and semi-skilled workers, inspecting facilities, and ensuring compliance with fire, electrical, OSHA, and related laws.

You will establish project schedules, prepare cost estimates, and plan renovations, while overseeing equipment and utilities.

Qualifications

Five years of full-time or equivalent maintenance or construction experience in buildings, grounds, or mechanical/electrical equipment, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
Two years supervisory experience required.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college study can substitute for up to three years of general experience.
Substitution: study in building trades or related field may substitute for up to three years of general experience.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and direct upkeep and maintenance of the facility.
Direct work of skilled and semi-skilled trade workers.
Inspect facilities and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment.
Establish schedules and priorities for maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
Analyze and prepare cost estimates, material and labor requirements.
Plan renovations and other special projects.
Review employee performance and approve leave.
Write reports as necessary and perform related duties.
Direct inmate contact and duties at the facility; perform security tasks as needed.
