Job summary

CSU Stanislaus Campus Recreation is seeking a student assistant to support operations in the Fitness Center. Duties include equipment upkeep, safety supervision, and customer service for campus patrons.

Position requires undergraduate status with the specified unit enrollment, flexible weekends, andFirst Aid/CPR certification (training provided within one month). Original job posting indicates starting Aug 10, 2026 and ending May 31, 2027, with possible renewal.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in at least six (6) Fall/Spring units.
• Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
• First Aid and CPR certification is required (training provided within one month of hire).
• Demonstrates ability to work weekends; flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist and maintain cleanliness of equipment and facility.
• Assist with equipment preventative maintenance.
• Report safety or maintenance needs in shift reports.
• Assist in moving and storing equipment for surplus preparation.
• Enforce policies for safe and proper use of equipment and facility.
• Develop professional relationships with staff, participants and guests.
• Monitor safety of all patrons; be first responder for emergencies and provide first aid/CPR until help arrives.
• Provide quality customer service to patrons.
• Communicate with Fitness Center Attendants.
• Assist in required departmental functions.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Campus Recreation.

• Qualifications
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Must have a flexible schedule and must be able to work weekends. Facility is open 7 days per week
• Flexible schedule.
• First Aid and CPR Certification required (training will be provided within one month of hiring).
• Demonstrate previous experience in a gym/facility maintenance setting. Candidate certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
• Demonstrates general knowledge of Recreation Sports and fitness activities'.
• Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently.
• Demonstrates experience in maintaining equipment.
• Demonstrates effective management of emergency situations including injuries and first aid procedures.
• Demonstrates effective customer service in dealing with difficult situations, concerns and complaints.
• Required to attend annual and semester staff training. Exact dates to be determined.
• Required Qualifications:
• Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
• Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
• Salary Range
• $16.90 per hour.
