The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing commercial multi-trades maintenance (carpentry, electrical and plumbing) on the building systems including arena lighting, sound system, video walls, switches, receptacles, toilets, showers, sinks, dry wall, and painting, as well as provide set up and support of games, practices and special events. Position will have extended overtime hours on weekdays and weekends. Responsibilities include the maintenance, repair, replacement, fabrication, installation and construction of building components. Performs work requests and seek clarification when needed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Management Preferences

Substantial experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with commercial building maintenance. Ability to advance work plan goals and competencies

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods of time; navigate stairs; climb ladders; work in small, tight spaces and bend, stoop, crawl and squat to complete work; work at heights above 120 feet; ability to move 100 lbs. and 50 lbs. overhead; ability to wear required PPE for the specific job, including but not limited too: safety harnesses, fall protection, respirators, face masks or face shields, and protective gloves; ability to work in stressful conditions and under critical timelines.
