Job summary

Pima County is seeking a skilled Locksmith to lead and execute journey-level locksmith duties at the Main Jail facility. You will install, service, and troubleshoot locking systems, control access, and maintain accurate key and security records.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in locksmithing completed and documented in application.
• One year of journey-level locksmith experience required.
• Five years of journey-level locksmith work or two years with Pima County as Trades Maintenance Technician.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain master key systems with secure access control.
• Install, repair, and service locks on doors, cabinets, safes, gates, and public infrastructure.
• Respond to emergency lockouts and security incidents promptly.
• Install and service electronic access control systems including card readers and keypads.
• Rekey locks and update lock combinations as needed for security.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic lock issues to ensure quick repairs.
• Maintain records of keys, lock systems, and access control logs.
• Collaborate with security, maintenance, and admin staff to improve facility safety.
• Fabricate and duplicate keys using manual and automated tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
• Interpret blueprints and floor plans for lock installations and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with safety codes, ADA requirements, and security regulations.
