Job summary

City of Carbondale in Illinois seeks a Facility/Event Support Worker (full-time) to perform custodial, maintenance and security tasks at City Hall/Civic Center, including cleaning offices, meeting rooms, and grounds. The role reports to the Civic Center Manager and requires lifting, operating cleaning equipment, and event setup.

Regular shifts Tue-Fri 2:00p-11:00p and Sat 3:00p-12:00a; salary Grade 3, $18.00-$19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years custodial experience.
• Event experience preferred.
• Must have and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a police background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial tasks to maintain City Hall/Civic Center areas in a clean, sanitary condition.
• Empty trash and sanitize containers; handle waste and cleaning duties.
• Set up audio-visual equipment, tables, and chairs for events; assist staff and tenants with deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers; interact with the public.
• Provide access control for weekend/evening events as scheduled by the Civic Center Manager.
