Job summary

City of Carbondale in Illinois seeks a Lead Facility/Event Support Worker to oversee daily cleaning and maintenance of the Civic Center and supervise a team of staff. This full-time role ensures cleaning tasks meet high standards for regular use and special events, with duties including assignments, inspections, and safety compliance.

Hours are Monday–Friday 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with a Grade 3 hourly salary of $19.00–$20.50.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Supervisory experience in facility/event settings.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Clear police background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of Civic Center.
• Supervise facility/event support staff and assign tasks.
• Coordinate cleaning for special events and setups.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and safety compliance.
• Track schedules, logs, and daily operations.
• Perform routine inspections and address quality issues.
