Job description

Facility Environmental Manager – Antioch, CA

Georgia‑Pacific is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Facility Environmental Manager at our Antioch, CA gypsum site. The successful candidate will own the development, implementation, and management of the facility’s environmental compliance programs and systems, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies.

What You Will Do
  • Act as the site’s Environmental Technical Expert and GP Performance Standard Owner.
  • Manage compliance with federal (EPA) and state/local environmental program requirements, including air, water/wastewater, stormwater, solid and hazardous waste, SPCC, CERCLA/EPCRA, TSCA, and FCC.
  • Support and implement the Corporate Environmental Management System (Risk Management System) and integrate the environmental system into the plant’s overall operations plan.
  • Be knowledgeable in environmental regulations and assess compliance, procedural, and financial impacts to the facility.
  • Analyze incident/compliance trend data and collaborate with operating departments to build environmental capability and reduce risk.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations, mitigation, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Manage the compliance calendar, coordinate activities, and prepare/submit reports to outside agencies on schedule.
  • Manage the hazardous materials program and mitigate exposure to safety and environmental hazards and risks in the workplace.
  • Identify cost‑effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues.
  • Train facility personnel regarding environmental regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain Method 9 certification.
  • Represent the site during agency inspections and interactions.
  • Identify environmental stewardship opportunities and lead environmental stewardship initiatives for the site.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Management, or Environmental Science.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year or more of environmental experience in a manufacturing/industrial facility.
  • Two or more years of environmental compliance and management systems experience.
  • Experience with an Air Permit program.
  • Experience conducting facility audits, self‑assessments, or inspections to identify improvement areas.
  • Basic understanding of project management skills.
  • Ability to understand emissions calculations.
  • Experience implementing key management systems/controls such as permits, plans, license & registration, and compliance calendars.
  • Experience with ODEQ rules and regulations.
  • Current Method 9 Opacity certification.
Compensation

Estimated base salary: $120,000 - $135,000 per year. Role is eligible for variable pay in the form of a monetary bonus or other incentives.
