ZT Systems seeks a Staff Facility Engineer to oversee the central chiller plant, facility-wide environmental monitoring, and BAS/BMS. The role includes optimizing operations, identifying issues before they affect performance, and coordinating with service providers to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facilities.

Based in New Jersey with support to Texas, the position emphasizes energy efficiency, preventive maintenance, and data-driven improvements to minimize downtime and costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering.
• 5+ years in facilities engineering, HVAC, or central plant operations with planning experience.
• Strong understanding of chiller plants, BAS/BMS, and environmental monitoring technologies.
• Familiarity with energy efficiency strategies and sustainability practices.
• Experience managing service providers, contractors, or vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate chiller plant performance (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, BAS/BMS) for reliability and efficiency.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends and recommend system adjustments or upgrades.
• Oversee environmental monitoring systems (temp, humidity, air/water quality) and ensure compliance.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs using condition-based monitoring and data analytics.
• Act as first line of technical evaluation for mechanical and electrical issues; coordinate with contractors.
• Oversee vendor performance and ensure service contracts meet needs.
• Maintain records of system performance and regulatory compliance (OSHA, ASHRAE, EPA).
• Support energy management and sustainability initiatives; contribute to capital planning.
• Provide technical guidance for HVAC-related capital projects and equipment upgrades.
