Job summary

Mississippi Power in Gulfport seeks a Facilities Specialist I to plan facilities, design interiors, and coordinate construction for corporate spaces under general guidance. You will support design development, drawings, specifications, and project execution while adhering to corporate standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of experience in interior design, architecture, construction, or workplace planning.
  • Working knowledge of CAD production and design software.
  • Knowledge of commercial building codes, ADA requirements, and life safety standards.
  • Experience supporting design or construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support a strong safety culture by identifying workplace hazards and promoting safe work practices.
  • Assist with planning and design of office interiors, renovations, and facility improvement projects.
  • Prepare and revise construction coordination drawings, space plans, furniture layouts, and project documentation.
  • Assist in developing design solutions involving furniture systems, finishes, lighting, and space utilization.
  • Apply corporate workplace standards and space planning guidelines.
  • Coordinate project deliverables with facilities personnel, vendors, and consultants.
  • Review project requirements and assist in reconciling stakeholder requests.
  • Support development of FF&E specifications and furniture standards.
  • Participate in project scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking activities.
  • Maintain project records, drawings, and document management systems.

Facilities Specialist

At Mississippi Power, the Facility Specialist I performs facility planning, interior design, space utilization, and construction coordination activities for corporate facilities. Participates in design development, preparation of drawings and specifications, and project execution under general guidance. Supports smaller facility projects and assists senior team members with construction administration, vendor coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Applies knowledge of design principles, building codes, and corporate standards to deliver effective workplace solutions.

Primary Responsibilities
