Job summary

Mississippi Power seeks a Maintenance Specialist for Plant Daniel to coordinate maintenance, develop improvement projects and serve as SME for system issues.   • Engage with vendors and analyze acceptance data for new/rebuilt equipment.

Maintenance Specialist - Plant Daniel
Job Summary

This position will report to the Planning Team Leader. The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the following System Owner duties: Coordination of Maintenance for assigned area/equipment to ensure generating availability, efficiency, and reliability. Initiate, develop, and implement plant improvement projects. Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing technical direction and maintenance expertise to Maintenance or Contract personnel on all system issues. Support and coordinate processes (such as Maximo, Living Maintenance Strategy, Event Learning, etc.). Develop and monitor budgets (current, 5-year, & 20-year) for process and equipment needs. Provide support for Team Leaders and the Engineering/Performance department as necessary. This position is associated with System A (Ash Handling) and System B (Air & Gas); however, system assignments will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications. Therefore, the selected candidate may be assigned to a different system.

  • Must have an understanding of the IBEW/Union contract.
Preferred
  • Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Operations and/or Maintenance in an Electric Generating Plant or 5 years journeyman level experience in other industrial work environments .
Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure all safe work practices are strictly adhered to while performing work efficiently.
  • Monitor routine operation of assigned Plant Equipment.
  • The ability to use EDS historian to troubleshoot process issues is preferred.
  • Investigate improvements to equipment on an ongoing basis, deriving work scopes and solutions, and implementing action plans.
  • Develop and track routine, outage, and capital budgets for assigned equipment, systems, and/or processes. Utilize Enterprise solutions tools such as PowerPlant reporting for budget tracking.
  • Execute major maintenance or replacement activities by providing specific direction and coordination of assigned Maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel, monitoring quality, cost, and adherence to contract specifications, including but not limited to OSHA and Environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the System SME providing classroom and on-the-job training to Maintenance personnel.
  • Effectively utilize Enterprise Solution tools to maintain system efficiency and reliability.
  • Optimize system maintenance strategy.
  • Identify and address equipment issues.
  • Utilize the Event Learning process.
  • Establish an ongoing relationship with key vendors; gather and analyze acceptance data on new/rebuilt equipment; and stay informed of current technology.
  • Support the Best Practices program by developing and implementing Best Practices in a timely manner.
  • Support the Regional Maintenance philosophy.
