Job summary

YMCA of Central New York is seeking a dependable janitor to support the mission by keeping our buildings clean, safe, and welcoming. Under the direction of the Facilities Director, you will perform general cleaning and minor maintenance to uphold high standards.

The role requires attention to safety, the ability to work Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm, and a willingness to respond to emergencies and assist in routine repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to interact with staff, members, and visitors professionally.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in common areas.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
• Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, and child care rooms.
• Maintains a neat janitors’ room and ensures supplies are stocked.
• Watches for safety hazards and reports deficiencies as required.
