Job summary

City of Murfreesboro, TN seeks a Facility Attendant Lead to assist in operating parks and facilities. The role includes greeting visitors, providing information, supervising daily operations, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across venues such as gyms, fields, and airport facilities.

Responsibilities cover enforcing rules, coordinating maintenance, managing reservations and staff, opening/closing duties, and handling cash and deposits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old; High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 3 months experience as a facility attendant or closely related role.
• Must possess CPR/AED certifications or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Must be able to communicate in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and assists with their needs, providing accurate information on activities and department details.
• Oversees and monitors the assigned facility to ensure a positive experience.
• Enforces rules and regulations for safety and welfare; responds to participant complaints.
• Performs general repair and maintenance or coordinates with contractors.
• Operates facility management software; processes admissions, balances cash drawer, prepares deposits, issues receipts, records transactions.
• Receives reservations and maintains schedules/calendars.
• Maintains accurate records such as inventories and incident reports.
• Opens and closes the facility; ensures building is secure and all participants have left.
• Manages staff and provides guidance and instruction.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Parks & Recreation: duties may vary by sub-area such as Youth Basketball, Concession, etc.

Job description

This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Depending on the department, the Facility Attendant Lead is responsible for assisting, in a leadership role, with the operation of the assigned park or facility, such as a gymnasium, athletic field, wellness area, reception area, concession stand, recreation venue, airport terminal, and other airport facilities.

Essential Functions:

• Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business.
• Greets customers/users as they enter the park or facility and assist them with their needs. Provide accurate information regarding activities and department information.
• Oversees and monitors the assigned facility to ensure a positive experience.

• Observes and enforce the rules and regulations of their assigned area for the safety and welfare of the staff and participants. Listens and responds to participant complaints.
• Oversees facility maintenance and cleanliness. Keeps the assigned area clean, neat, and orderly.

• Performs general repair and maintenance on the facility or coordinates with contractors.
• Operatesacomputerwithfacilitymanagementsoftware;processesdailyadmission,balancescash drawer; prepares bank deposits, collects funds, issues receipts, and records transactions.
• Receivesandrecordsreservations;maintainsandmonitorsschedulesandcalendars.

• Maintainsaccuraterecordsasassigned,whichmayincludeinventory,registrations,incidentreports,and similar.

• Opensandclosesthefacilityasneeded;ensuresthatthebuildingissecureandthatallparticipantshave left before closing the facility.
• Managesstaff;providesguidanceandinstruction.
• Abilitytoworkaflexibleschedulewithsomeweekend,evening,andholidayworkrequired.
• Performs other work as assigned.

AdditionalDuties:

• Parks & Recreation: Assigned areas will include specific training and expectations within the scope of the job description. Examples include Facility Attendant Lead-Youth Basketball, Facility Attendant Lead – Concessionaire, Facility Attendant Lead-Sports*Com Gym.

PhysicalDemands:

• Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and exerting up to 20 pounds (50 pounds for the Airport department) of force regularly and regularly.

MinimumEducationandExperienceRequirements:

• Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age. High School diploma or GED preferred but not required. Three (3) months experience as a facility attendant, customer service representative, or closely related experience is required.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

• Must possess current (not expired) CPR/AED certifications or the ability to acquire same within three (3) months from the date of hire.
