Job summary

King County's Parks Division is seeking a full-time Utility Worker I to join the King County Aquatics Center team in Federal Way, WA. You will perform heavy cleaning, maintain restrooms and common areas, manage waste, restock kitchens, and support event services for high-traffic venues.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and the ability to work in fast-paced environments during events and banquets. Training on certifications is provided after hire.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of janitorial cleaning techniques.
• Experience handling cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffers.
• Customer service experience.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of safety protocols for cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments during events.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy-duty cleaning and related maintenance in facilities, restrooms, and high traffic areas during events and banquets.
• Clean and maintain stadium seats, concourses, corridors, stairways, rooms and large gathering spaces.
• Ensure exterior sidewalks, patios, and stairwells are well maintained; use blowers and pressure washers as needed.
• Perform high-volume trash management, including recycling and compost.
• Clean and restock large caterers’ kitchens, hospitality rooms, and food concession areas during service times.
• Clean, sanitize, stock, and maintain large public restrooms and locker rooms.
• Clean glass windows; disinfect fixtures and surfaces throughout.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs of custodial heavy equipment.
