The role sits within the Bay Pines VA Medical Center's Facilities Management Service (FMS) and oversees all USO activities to ensure continuous patient-care utilities. The supervisor plans and directs daily operations, enforces safety standards, coordinates with contractors, and manages staff scheduling, priorities, and quality

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work as described (confined spaces, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Technically and administratively responsible for control of all work and activity related to the USO section and must account to his/her superior for the quality, quantity, and timeliness of work performed by the Section.
• Requisitions materials, supplies and equipment as needed, schedules delivery, etc.
• Makes assignments to USO employees based on priorities and capabilities.
• Establishes 24 hrs./day, 7 days/week schedules for routine activities and special practices as required.
• Reviews the work of employees to assure quality, effectiveness, efficiency and completeness.
• Provides technical and administrative advice and instructions to subordinates.
• Identifies development and training needs of USO Section employees and recommends training.
• Sets performance standards for all employees.
• Oversees contract service personnel on site and coordinates work.
• Develops specifications for yearly and one-time service contracts.
• Assists contractor in locating system components involved in their contract.
• Evaluates and performs corrective actions/repairs for service calls (elevator, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
• Determines modifications and updates to new equipment and existing systems.
• Ensures adequate spare parts inventory as required by the Section workload.
• Maintains safe, efficient and uninterrupted utility services throughout the medical center.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
