Job summary

Highlands Ranch Metro District is seeking a Facilities Technician in the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department. The role will maintain district parks, buildings, and coordinate with outside contractors on facility projects.

The position offers two levels—Technician I (up to $26/hour) and Technician II (up to $30/hour)—with duties spanning inspections, preventive maintenance, and event support. Strong safety and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School graduate or completion of G.E.D.
• Two years’ experience or education in facility maintenance, playground maintenance, or construction trades.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
• General working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in general construction projects, building maintenance, and playground maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of maintenance tasks in district-owned buildings, grounds, and parks. Works with outside contractors on preventive and reactive maintenance and on annual facility projects.
• Complies with safety policies to ensure the safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
• Provides quality customer service by building relationships with staff, contractors, and community members.
• Performs weekly inspections of building facilities and playgrounds; conducts monthly electrical inspections and minor repairs.
• Operates tractors, skid steers, welders, small trucks, and hand tools; participates in large and small projects.
