Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in College Park, MD is seeking a Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Team.

You will perform day‑to‑day maintenance and support operations across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems to keep our quantum campus safe and productive.The ideal candidate has a technical degree or certification and 4+ years in a fast-paced lab, data center, or manufacturing setting, with strong CMMS skills, blueprint reading, and the ability to work independently or with cross-functional

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 year technical degree or certification and 4+ years of hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, high‑tech electronics / optics laboratory / data center / manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other building systems. Make repairs as needed or coordinate with external contractors.
• Work with external vendors or contractors for specialized projects, repairs, or maintenance when needed.
• Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Operate and monitor building systems to ensure proper function.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and company policies. Maintain records for inspections, repairs, and audits.
• Perform general upkeep tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Perform Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) tasks including coordinating with contractors and updating SDS database.
• Assist with physical security projects and procedures
• Coordinate and assist with warehouse operations
• Coordinate and assist with moving equipment
• Monitor and maintain inventory and calibration program
• Respond to internal requests for facility issues and provide customer service
• Coordinate with stakeholders for planned and unplanned maintenance
• Create, address, and follow SOPs for facility emergencies and after-hours on-call responses
• Other duties as assigned
