Job description

Duties:

We are looking for a Facilities Technician who is responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of facility maintenance and operation work, performing the duties of Facilities Technician, following recognized industry standards for such work in a safe and efficient manner. The role involves electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical tasks. You will evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot buildings, systems, and equipment as assigned, as well as identify materials and equipment needed for work and maintain records of assignments.

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all SRA buildings, acting as the contact for emergency situations. Additionally, you will assess daily the safety of employees, security of assets, and service to members. This position will coordinate outside contractors or vendors for various services.

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the primary contact for all regional personnel regarding building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, and repairs).
  2. May assist the project coordinator for all size projects, including large scale repairs and new facility projects.
  3. Assist with maintaining building security and respond to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis (on call).
  4. Monitor and replace light bulbs in all assigned facilities as needed.
  5. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices as required.
  6. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices, and appliances as required.
  7. Perform basic electrical work and determine when an electrician is required.
  8. Hang pictures and shelving as needed.
  9. Dismantle and install furniture.
  10. Escort service contractors to necessary locations for equipment service.
  11. Coordinate and assist with departmental and employee moves.
  12. Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment.
  13. Transport goods or equipment as assigned.
  14. Perform immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain a clean facility.
  15. Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  16. Identify standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices used in multiple building maintenance crafts.
  17. Lead in the installation, maintenance, and repair of designated building systems.
  18. Maintain records of materials and labor expended on each assignment.
  19. Offer assistance to or guide other technicians in assignments.
  20. Observe and report any defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on the facilities through the work order system.
  21. Communicate with key administrative and staff personnel on special events and functions scheduled for the buildings that may require special furnishing arrangements.
  22. Cooperate with all personnel in the performance of day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
  23. Some travel to San Francisco and Palo Alto work-sites may be required.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.

  1. HVAC (5+ Years of Experience)
  2. or
  3. Electrical (5+ Years of Experience)
  4. or
  5. General Facilities Management (10+ Years of Experience)

Education:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  2. OSHA 10 training certification preferred.
  3. Formal education on HVAC or Electrical preferred.
