This is an advanced-level facilities maintenance position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving complex mechanical and building systems within a large Class A high-rise facility. The Facilities Technician III works with limited supervision, independently diagnoses complex equipment and system problems, and serves as a technical resource and project leader for other members of the maintenance team. This is an advanced-level position intended for an experienced commercial facilities technician capable of independently troubleshooting complex HVAC, electrical, mechanical, controls, and building‑system problems.
The ideal Facilities Technician III is more than an experienced maintenance technician. We are looking for someone who can be presented with a complex building problem, diagnose the root cause, develop a solution, and carry the work through to completion with limited oversight. The successful candidate should demonstrate advanced troubleshooting ability, sound judgment, initiative, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. This individual should also be comfortable serving as a technical resource for other technicians and taking the lead on maintenance projects when needed.
Experience maintaining a high‑rise, large commercial, governmental, institutional, or specialized public facility is strongly preferred. Additional consideration may be given to candidates with recognized trade credentials, state licenses, apprenticeships, manufacturer training, or certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, fire protection, or related building systems.
This position is a non‑exempt unclassified position, reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator. The salary range for this position, which is commensurate with experience, is $60,000 -$75,000. This position will receive a commuter stipend each paycheck. Out of state applicants may apply, however, the Supreme Court of Ohio does not reimburse travel or relocation expenses.

The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally participate in team lifts of up to 100 pounds. Work may occur in mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to noise, electrical equipment, paints, solvents, refrigerants, water‑treatment chemicals, and other conditions associated with commercial building maintenance. The employee may operate forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment after receiving appropriate training and authorization. This position may participate in an on‑call rotation requiring occasional work outside normal business hours.

Further, no employee shall have the employee's employment terminated with or without cause unless upon the concurrence of a majority of the Court.
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a pre‑employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
