Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking a dependable and motivated Facilities Technician I to join the Facilities Management team at the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center. This is a developing-level facilities maintenance position responsible for performing general and preventive maintenance and assisting with the upkeep of building equipment and systems. The position provides an opportunity for someone with basic maintenance or skilled-trade experience to develop additional skills in a large, complex Class A high-rise facility. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-minded, dependable, and interested in developing skills across multiple building trades.
We are looking for someone who has a solid mechanical aptitude and wants to build a career in commercial facilities maintenance. The successful candidate does not need to be an expert in every trade. We are looking for someone who has a good foundation, works safely, follows instructions, asks questions when necessary, and is willing to learn. The position is well suited for an individual who enjoys hands-on work and wants to develop experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, building controls, and other commercial building systems.
This is a non-exempt unclassified position, reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator. The salary range for this position, which is commensurate with experience, is $46,000 -$52,000. This position will receive a commuter stipend each paycheck.
Out of state applicants may apply, however, the Supreme Court of Ohio does not reimburse travel or relocation expenses.
The Supreme Court of Ohio is an equal employment opportunity employer that supports an alcohol and drug-free, and a weapons and violence free, work environment.
The position requires frequent walking and standing throughout the facility and may require climbing stairs and ladders, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, pushing, and pulling. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally participate in team lifts of up to 100 pounds. Work may occur in mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to noise, electrical equipment, paints, solvents, refrigerants, water-treatment chemicals, and other conditions associated with commercial building maintenance. The employee may operate forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment after receiving appropriate training and authorization. This position may participate in an on-call rotation requiring occasional work outside normal business hours.
The Supreme Court of Ohio is an at-will employer that seeks to attract, employ, and retain highly skilled and motivated individuals, attempts to maintain staff continuity for the efficiency of its operation, and desires to foster and maintain an ethical, professional, and impartial work environment. Pursuant to Adm. P. 4 (At-Will Employment), no person shall be offered or denied a position of employment with the Court, and no employee shall have the employee's employment terminated based solely upon political party affiliation, political activity permitted under Adm. P. 17 (Employee Code of Ethics), or other partisan considerations. Further, no employee shall have the employee's employment terminated with or without cause unless upon the concurrence of a majority of the Court.
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
