Job summary

Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking a skilled Facilities Technician II to join our Facilities Management team at the OH Judicial Center in Columbus. This role performs a wide range of maintenance activities in a large Class A facility and requires strong mechanical aptitude and independent problem solving.

Responsibilities include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and preventive maintenance, with on-call rotation and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of building maintenance or skilled-trades experience.
• Ability to independently perform general maintenance and moderately complex repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building-system problems.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
• Valid Ohio driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, and other building systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC and mechanical equipment.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including systems up to 480 volts as qualified.
• Perform plumbing repairs and installations involving fixtures, piping, valves, pumps, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair commercial appliances and building equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and identify issues before failures occur.
• Read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specs.
• Assist with operation and troubleshooting of building systems including DDC controls, hydronic systems, boilers, a/c, fire alarm, sprinklers.
• Carry out carpentry repairs: doors, locks, closers, hinges, drywall, ceilings, wall base, partitions.
• Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems and controls.
• Respond to facility service requests, determine root causes, provide solutions.
• Operate equipment like forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, etc., when trained.
• Communicate professionally with Court staff, contractors, vendors, and other departments.
• Participate in on-call rotation and emergencies when needed.
• Follow OSHA, NFPA, Court safety procedures and Facilities policies.
