Job summary

Jackson Hinds Library System is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, custodial duties, and general upkeep across all locations. The role ensures buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles remain safe, clean, and operational, working independently within the system.

Responsibilities include routine inspections, minor repairs, furniture work, cleaning duties, and travel between locations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in facilities maintenance, custodial work, construction, or a related field preferred.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
Ability to travel between all Jackson Hinds Library System locations.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections of library facilities.
Repair minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general building issues.
Install, assemble, repair, and relocate furniture, shelving, fixtures, and equipment.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, public areas, break rooms, and other spaces.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, strip, wax, and buff floors.
Communicate with staff and contractors; report facility concerns and maintain records of completed work.
Travel to all library locations to perform maintenance and custodial services.
Operate and maintain library-owned vehicles and equipment.
Respond to emergency maintenance issues and weather-related events.
