Description

Facilities Technician (I, II, or III), Full Time (Non-Exempt)

Position Purpose

The Facilities Technician (I/II/III) executes projects assigned by the Facilities Supervisor or Manager, providing daily operations and maintenance for the museum complex. The level (I, II, or III) is determined by education and experience. The role involves maintenance and repair of grounds, buildings, and systems, supporting museum activities, events, and safety protocols. Reports to the Facilities Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance of plant, grounds, and buildings.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot facilities and equipment.
  • Work from blueprints, manuals, and instructions.
  • Estimate materials, labor, and costs.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Assist with HVAC maintenance.
  • Operate department software, including MaintainX CMMS.
  • Follow safety practices and assure contractor compliance.
  • Complete event setups and changeovers.
  • Provide grounds maintenance, including snow removal and landscape features.
  • Change lighting and plumbing fixtures under supervision.
  • Apply the Racial Equity Lens daily and support related initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of installation, repair, and construction methods and equipment.
  • Ability to operate power tools, lift systems, and museum vehicles.
  • Knowledge of low voltage diagnostics.
  • Experience in carpentry, drywall, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and irrigation.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems.
  • Computer skills for documentation and communication.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Valid Colorado Class “R” driver’s license (driving record check required).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in English and understanding of written procedures.
Experience Levels
  • Tech I: Minimal experience, assists higher personnel, supervised.
  • Tech II: 3-5 years of experience, performs independently, assists lower grades.
  • Tech III: 8+ years, journey-level skills, knowledgeable of codes.
Working Environment & Physical Activities
  • Long hours, exposure to injuries, interruptions.
  • Use of power tools, computer systems, radio, vehicles, ladders, and lifts.
  • May require safety harnesses and working in elevated spaces.
Additional Information

This position is covered by a CBA with AFSCME-CWU. Pay ranges vary by level: Tech I: $19-$23.75/hr, Tech II: $21-$26.75/hr, Tech III: $25.50-$31.90/hr.
