Job summary

Liberty Street Hospital in Meadville, PA is seeking an experienced Facility Engineer/HVAC technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs across hospital systems. The role focuses on maintaining HVAC, plumbing fixtures, and other equipment to keep facilities safe and compliant.

You will document activities, conduct tests, and support life safety and electrical components, with emphasis on safety and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; PA driver’s license may be required.
• 2+ years of HVAC technician experience.
• EPA section 608 certification or ability to obtain.
• Safe, licensed driver in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs, and installs equipment components through PM and work orders.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems in facilities.
• Maintains water coolers, sinks, toilets, and plumbing fixtures.
• Maintains other equipment such as blanket warmers and carts.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and efficient equipment operations.
• Completes documentation as required.
• Assists with repair, testing and inspection of fire safety systems.
• Performs maintenance in any facility area as directed.
• Conducts tests and inspections on equipment prior to service.
• Completes work orders through established process promptly.
• Follows safety policies and lock-out tag-out procedures.
• Knowledge of lock-out tag-out procedures required.

• Maintains, repairs, and installs equipment components through established preventative maintenance (PM) and work order process as assigned.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in our various facilities.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs water coolers, sinks, toilets, hot shot's and other plumbing fixtures.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs other misc. machinery such as blanket warmers, carts, etc., other as required.
• Ensures regulatory compliance through efficient equipment operations.
• Completes all documentation as required.
• Assists with repair, testing and inspection of fire safety, life safety, communication and electrical components of the utility and safety systems.
• Performs maintenance assignments in any facility areas as directed.
• Conducts tests, inspections and equipment checks on equipment in inventory prior to placing into service at any system facility site, ensuring compliance with all applicable code requirements and standards.
• Perform assigned work orders through established process in a timely manner.
• Follow established policies and procedures with strict adherence to safety rules.
• Knowledgeable of and exhibits willingness to implement lock-out tag-out procedures as required.

SPECIFIC JOB DEMANDS

Strength: Heavy Work - Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 50-100 Lbs. occasionally, 20-50 Lbs. frequently, 10-20 constantly.

Climbing: Occasionally- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet, and legs or hands and arms. Body agility is important.

Stooping: Frequently - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Kneeling: Frequently - bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees.

Crouching: Frequently - Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.

Reaching: Frequently - Extending hands(s) or arms(s) in any direction.

Handling: Frequently - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift automobile gears.

Talking: Occasionally - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Occasionally - Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.

Near Acuity: Occasionally - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

High school diploma or equivalent gained through previous experience. Use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement provided may be required. Must be a safe, licensed, insured driver in the state of Pennsylvania and current evidence of same must be on file at all times.

Ability to use independent judgment, working with minimal supervision.

2+ years of experience as an HVAC technician or in a related field.
