Job summary

The Lafayette is seeking a Maintenance Tech / Facilities Assistant to join their team. The role supports the Facilities Director in maintaining the community, including minor repairs, inspections, and coordinating with vendors to keep resident spaces safe and functional.

The ideal candidate holds a High School Diploma or GED with at least 1 year of related experience, and can multitask, manage stress, and work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours to meet residents' needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Review the maintenance log daily and complete tasks.
• Conduct inspections of furniture and coordinate maintenance with vendors.
• Perform minor repairs (plumbing, fixtures) and general maintenance.
• Hang bulletin boards, pictures, coat hooks in resident suites and offices.
• Coordinate with Facilities Director, Executive Director and external vendors.
• Touch up paint, furniture refinishing and moving.
• Follow procedures for cleaners and power equipment to protect floors/fixtures.
• Steam clean or shampoo carpet.
• Adjust heating/cooling/ventilation as needed.
• Gather and empty trash; remove debris from porches, parking areas and dumpsters.
• Replace light bulbs throughout the community.
• Notify supervisor about major repairs or system improvements.
