Job summary

The Neighborhood at Decatur is seeking a Maintenance Tech / Facilities Assistant to join our team. The role supports the Facilities Director in daily maintenance, minor repairs, and coordination with vendors to keep the community safe and welcoming for residents. Shifts are Mon-Fri with every other weekend required.

Education: High School Diploma/GED and at least 1 year of related experience preferred. Strong communication and a partner-like approach to working with staff and residents are

Qualifications

• Knowledge of infection control procedures.
• Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure.
• Understanding of assisted living philosophy and resident-centered care.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facilities Director with maintenance and upkeep of community.
• Perform minor repairs and coordinate with vendors for larger tasks.
• Inspect furniture and schedule cleaning/maintenance with vendors.
• Handle basic plumbing, electrical, and fixture repairs.
• Move furniture, hang bulletin boards, and set up spaces for residents.
• Communicate maintenance needs to supervisor and document in log.
