Job summary

New Ulm is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee custodial tasks and light building upkeep in public facilities. The role blends cleaning with preventive maintenance, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

You will handle interior cleaning, minor repairs, HVAC-related tasks, and site inspections. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work with contractors, vendors, and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of combined custodial and building/facility maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems required.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy and routine interior cleaning and maintain restrooms.
• Paint, patch drywall, and cosmetic repairs; provide light electrical and plumbing service.
• Operate and maintain HVAC, boilers, chillers, and air handlers; periodic diagnostics.
• Maintain grounds, sidewalks; inspect windows, doors, roofing and building envelopes.
• Move furniture and equipment; ensure safe handling of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
• Perform daily/weekly walk-throughs and keep logs; assist with vendor coordination.
• Respond to fire alarms, HVAC emergencies, or other urgent maintenance requests.
