Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services seeks a Maintainer for the South Region Facilities Management location in Meriden. This role involves building and grounds maintenance, snow removal, vehicle upkeep, and safety checks to keep facilities safe and functional.

You will coordinate supplies and communicate with landlords and contractors, may assist trades, and must be flexible to meet job demands.

• Experience with commercial snow removal equipment.
• Experience with commercial lawn equipment.
• Experience with grounds care.
• Experience with building maintenance.
• Experience with motor equipment maintenance and servicing.
• Experience with parking garage functions.
• Experience with custodial work in large facilities.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Keeps simple records and prepares reports related to duties.
• Performs preventive maintenance on doors, HVACR components, and furnishings.
• Cares for grounds, snow removal, and vehicle upkeep.
• Monitors safety checks of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
• Coordinates facility needs with landlords and outside contractors.
• Performs custodial tasks and may move furniture.
• Assists trades with carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical tasks.
• Operates small power equipment and manages supplies.
