Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS), West Region Facilities Management in Norwalk seeks a General Trades Worker to perform skilled maintenance and renovations across multiple trades. The role supports building health and safety standards and ensures licensing and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in one or more trade areas.
• Two (2) years of general experience in skilled trade functions.
• Note: housekeeping, custodial, and food service do not qualify.
• Licenses/certifications may be required by the appointing authority.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and/or construction work across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVACR, and related trades.
• Requests estimates of time, personnel, and materials for tasks.
• Maintains records and may operate and maintain heavy equipment.
• May work as the sole worker in a small trade area and respond to emergencies as needed.
