Job summary

Connecticut Developmental Services (DDS) seeks a skilled General Trades Worker in Meriden, CT. The role focuses on maintaining homes, regional centers, and office facilities, with emphasis on safety, compliance, and quality workmanship across multiple trades.

The position is full-time, 1st shift (7:00 am – 3:00 pm), 37.5 hours weekly, with some schedule flexibility. Incumbents may operate trucks and heavy equipment, and snow removal duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in one or more trade areas.
• Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing skilled trade functions.
• Substitutions may be allowed with vocational training or approved programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly skilled maintenance and/or construction work in multiple trade areas.
• Makes estimates of time, personnel, and material for tasks.
• Keeps necessary records and reports.
• Operates and maintains heavy equipment when required.
• Responds to emergency maintenance needs and repairs.
