Job summary

Nassau County School District in Fernandina Beach, Florida, is seeking a Technician in the Facilities Department to support maintenance, repair, and installation across multiple building systems. This is a full-time position within the Facilities team.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, a Florida CDL within six months, at least five years of building maintenance experience, and willingness to obtain LP gas and Freon certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Florida CDL or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Minimum of five years in building maintenance or construction.
• Will to obtain LP gas and freon certifications.
• Experience with electrical and HVAC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair water and sewer lines.
• Maintain, install and repair plumbing systems (water coolers, sprinklers, pumps, back-flow valves).
• Maintain, repair and install gas lines.
• Inventory equipment, supplies and materials.
• Request equipment and supplies for ongoing projects.
• Clean and maintain heating and hot water systems.
• Keep boilers safe and efficient.
• Maintain building roofs and repair leaks.
• Read blueprints and construct to specifications.
• Ensure all structures are safe and attractive.
• Scrap, clean, prime and paint surfaces as needed.
• Inspect electrical wiring, safety systems, HVAC controls.
• Repair and replace faulty circuits/controls.
• Maintain safety inspection records.
• Provide information to establish the fiscal budget.
• Perform other tasks aligned with department goals.
