Job summary

Nassau County School District seeks a Technician in the Facilities Department for 12 months. The position offers a yearly salary range and includes responsibilities across water/sewer systems, plumbing, gas lines, heating, and roofing.

The role requires compliance with safety standards and collaboration with the Maintenance Manager. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma (or equivalent), a Florida CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months, and at least 5 years in building

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in building maintenance or construction industry.
• Willing to become certified in areas requiring special handling, including LP gas and freon.
• Experience with electrical and HVAC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and repair water and sewer lines.
• Maintain, install and repair all systems requiring plumbing skill, such as water cooler, sprinkler, pumps, back-flow valves.
• Maintain, repair and / or install gas lines.
• Inventory equipment, supplies and materials.
• Requisition equipment, supplies and materials for jobs in progress.
• Clean and maintain heating systems and hot water systems.
• Keep boilers in safe and efficient operating condition.
• Maintain building roofs. Repair leaks and replace faulty roofing when necessary.
• Read blueprints and construct buildings and projects to specifications.
• Maintain all structures in a safe and attractive condition.
• Scrap, clean, prime and paint all surfaces as needed.
• Inspect electrical wiring, safety systems, intercoms and HVAC controls periodically.
• Repair and replace all faulty circuits and / or controls.
• Maintain records of safety inspections.
• Provide the Maintenance Manager with information needed to establish the fiscal budget.
• Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

ANNUAL EMPLOYMENT

Twelve Months (260 Days)/8 Hours Daily

SALARY RANGE

$49,566.40 - $57,678.40

(While in effect, additional compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded annually. For the 2026-27 school year, the amount for this position is $8,954 and will be prorated from July 1, 2026.)
