Position Summary:

We have a full-time Facilities Technician position available with Missions Inc. Programs which includes multiple buildings located on our beautiful 38-acre campus located on the North Shore of Medicine Lake in Plymouth, MN. Applicants must have some knowledge in a wide range of building trade skills including carpentry, painting, plumbing, light electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, and lawn care equipment maintenance. Self-taught candidates are encouraged to apply. Must provide references.

Position Responsibilities
  • Facility maintenance and repair under the direction of the Director of Facility Operations
  • Receive work order requests and ensure they are responded to and completed in a timely and effective manner
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance, including, replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.)
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses, etc.)
  • Assist with preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment including filter replacement, belt changes
  • Perform painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
  • Groundskeeping and lawn mowing, snow removal, and general maintenance of parking areas
  • Light cleaning, including trash removal, vacuum, bathroom, carpet and upholstery
  • Receive work order requests and ensure they are responded to and completed in a timely and effective manner
  • Appliance repair and maintenance
  • Vehicle repair and maintenance
  • Provide on-call maintenance if needed, including after hours and weekends

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Some experience (professional or personal) performing building and grounds maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and boiler maintenance is preferred
  • Must be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing with residents and staff
  • Must be able to pivot as necessary, handle frequent interruptions and perform a variety of tasks during an eight hour or longer periods of time
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer competencies
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license
  • Must pass required background checks
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with persons of diverse backgrounds
  • Must be reliable with the ability to work on-call as scheduled including weekends and evenings
  • Must be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing with residents and staff
  • Must be able to pivot as necessary, handle frequent interruptions and perform a variety of tasks during an eight hour or longer periods of time
Compensation

$23.50-$25.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include individual health and dental insurance, 403b retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, ten paid holidays and PTO (paid time off).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movements. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, occasionally 75 pounds. Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, kneels. Frequently reaches above or at shoulder level. Ability to perform maintenance in harsh weather environments, including extreme cold and heat.
