Job summary

Merlin Kansas City is seeking a part-time Facilities Technician to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, electronics, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems across the SEALIFE attraction. You will also care for exhibits, lighting, data cables, and AV equipment to ensure optimal guest experiences.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years in maintenance, preferably in a technical/themed environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Maintenance experience in a themed/attraction environment preferred.
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, and networks is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot attraction systems and themed components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on building systems.
  • Set up data cables and service AV equipment when needed.
  • Repair walls, lighting, doors, and exhibit fixtures.
  • Ensure safety practices and reporting of hazards.

What you'll bring to the team
Facilities Technician (Part Time) - SEALIFE Kansas City
What You’ll Do:
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all areas of the attraction including HVAC, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems as well as themed attractions.
  • Apply hands‑on knowledge and experience to tackle problems to sustain minimal downtime of themed attractions for the maximum guest experience.
  • Position functions will include but not limited to custodial duties, re‑lamping & lighting systems, painting and wall repair, tech equipment, shipping and receiving as well as exhibit setup and takedown. Maintaining and troubleshooting Audio Visual equipment for both old and new exhibits.
  • Install and/or replace light bulbs, projector lamps, doors, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain attraction systems, rides, and equipment.
  • Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace control devices.
  • Complete “Preventative Maintenance” tasks (Daily, Weekly, Bi‑Weekly, Monthly, etc.).
  • Repair and/or paint interior walls, hang pictures; assemble furniture.
  • Set‑up and install data cables as needed; install and repair computer outlets and computer bundles.
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned. Correct or report any safety or fire hazards.
  • Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas clean, organized and in safe condition.
  • Able to set‑up and operate various hand tools and power equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of maintenance experience preferred.
  • At least two years of service industry experience in a technical/themed environment to include animation, automation, hydraulics, pneumatic, electrical/electronics, and networks.
  • Experience of maintaining flexibility and the highest level of service.
  • Weekend availability preferred.
