Position Purpose

The Facilities Technician supports the daily operation, maintenance, and appearance of the Liberty Christian School campus by assisting with preventative maintenance, event support, facility upkeep, and general campus operations. This position plays a vital role in providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, parents, and visitors while exemplifying the mission and values of the School.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with the setup, teardown, and restoration of classrooms, meeting spaces, athletic venues, cafeterias, and other campus facilities for school events, activities, and daily operations.
  • Move and arrange furniture, tables, chairs, equipment, staging, and other materials needed to support campus events and operational needs.
  • Assist with the setup, cleanup, and maintenance of school cafeterias and dining areas.
  • Perform general maintenance, custodial, and grounds-related duties as assigned to ensure campus facilities remain clean, safe, and operational.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop, including proper storage of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Complete recurring daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance assignments as directed by the Director of Facilities.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives to develop proficiency in multiple areas of facilities operations.
  • Respond to facility requests, emergencies, and operational needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as a member of the School's Emergency Response Team and assist during emergency situations as assigned.
  • Operate golf carts, utility vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Follow established Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing equipment by identifying and disabling all applicable energy sources.
  • Immediately seek guidance from a supervisor before performing unfamiliar or potentially hazardous tasks.
  • Support a culture of teamwork by assisting other departments and Facilities team members as operational needs require.
  • Maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude while interacting with students, parents, faculty, staff, vendors, and campus visitors.
  • Adhere to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and trainings.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the operational needs of the School.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of consistent, verifiable work experience in facilities maintenance, custodial services, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a school, commercial, or institutional environment is preferred.
  • Basic woodworking and metalworking experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to supporting the mission, vision, and values of Liberty Christian School and serve as a positive Christian role model.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance, facility operations, and event support.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, golf carts, utility vehicles, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond positively to unexpected operational needs.

Physical and Mental Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive physical movements throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely move furniture, equipment, and supplies for events and daily operations.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
  • Ability to operate computers, mobile devices, maintenance equipment, and standard office equipment as needed.
  • Ability to use close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision necessary to safely perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, vendors, and visitors.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and productive while working under pressure or responding to emergencies.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 or more hours per week, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require.
  • Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
