Job summary

Maryland Department of General Services in Rockville, MD seeks a front-line building technician to operate and maintain essential state office buildings. You will ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems run safely and efficiently, reporting to a building manager and collaborating with other technicians.

The role requires at least three years of skilled-trades experience and a valid motor vehicle license; CMMS will be used daily to monitor equipment and issue work orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of skilled trades experience (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, or welding).
• Motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper functioning of building systems and equipment in state office buildings.
• Use CMMS to monitor and manage maintenance activities and readings.
• Complete tasks via CMMS work orders and coordinate with contractors as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as replacing filters and other consumables.
• Assist with additional building trades tasks to keep buildings in top shape.
