Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville is seeking a Maintenance/Trades worker to support building, grounds and equipment maintenance. Under supervision, you will perform routine and semi-skilled tasks, operate truck and power tools, and follow safety procedures.

A valid Maryland noncommercial license is required and a CDL must be obtained within 6 months. This full-time role offers day shifts and year-round scheduling.

Qualifications

• Must have completed MCPS General Maintenance Worker written and hands-on skills test at the minimum or higher required score.
• Basic knowledge of safe work practices and procedures used in maintenance work.
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, power mowers, tractors, and light trucks; perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Completion of ninth grade; CDL within 6 months of starting date; valid Maryland driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools, mowers, tractors and light trucks as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective gear; comply with SSPGS core competencies where applicable.
• Report to work during inclement weather and emergencies as required.
