Job summary

Maryland Department of General Services is seeking a dedicated Building Technician to ensure safe, efficient operation of essential state office buildings. The role maintains HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems under the supervision of a building manager, using CMMS to monitor and document maintenance activities.

Ideal candidates provide 3 years of skilled trades experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid motor vehicle license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years of skilled trade experience (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting or welding).
• Motor vehicle operator’s license required; additional trade licenses may be needed for certain duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems within design parameters.
• Use CMMS to monitor equipment and upload readings from sensors.
• Respond to CMMS work orders and coordinate with building manager for needed support.
• Perform preventive maintenance and replace components as scheduled.
• Assist with other building maintenance tasks and repairs as needed.
