Job summary

Teachers Federal Credit Union is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain the headquarters, branches, and equipment. You will perform routine inspections, address HVAC and safety systems, and manage on-call duties across multiple properties.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of facilities or building maintenance experience, a valid NY state driver’s license, and flexibility to work overtime or cover other sites as needed.

  • Knowledge of skilled trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry) and related tools/equipment.
  • Valid NY state driver’s license required.
  • Responding to on-call emergencies.
  • May cover other properties for on-call coverage as needed.
  • Must be adaptable to changing work priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Overtime may be required when assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Completes daily inspection of buildings including roof, stairs, elevators, lavatories, and grounds.
  • Ensures stairwells, doorways and walkways are clear; clears debris or snow as needed.
  • Performs basic inspections of mechanical rooms and HVAC/safety equipment.
  • Tests emergency generators to ensure proper function.
  • Monitors fuel gauges and low fuel levels.
  • Installs and repairs fixtures, plumbing, doors, flooring and office furniture.
  • Completes maintenance requests from Branch Offices/Tenants.
  • Participates in office setups and renovations by moving furniture and painting.
  • Delivers supplies, maintains the organization’s van, and logs activities.
  • Ensures cafeteria is neat and stocked; troubleshoots problems with vendors as needed.
  • Follows safety guidelines and keeps manager updated on assignments.
  • Performs other duties as needed by supervisor.

Summary

Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on headquarters building, branches and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, or masonry.

Education And/or Experience
  • HS Degree required

Job Responsibilities
  • Completes daily inspection of building including roof, stairwells, elevators, lavatories, and grounds, identifies problems.
  • Ensures stairwells, doorways and walkways are clear and accessible by removing debris/snow as needed. Able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Performs basic inspects of mechanical rooms by reading and/or testing gauges, buttons, switches, and timers to ensure that HVAC/safety equipment are functioning properly.
  • Tests emergency generators, as assigned to ensure that they are functioning properly.
  • Monitors fuel gauges and low fuel levels.
  • Installs, repairs and replaces light fixtures, bulbs, switches, outlets, plumbing, doors, moldings, locks, flooring, wall coverings and office furniture.
  • Completes facility repairs/maintenance requests received from Branch Offices/Tenants as assigned.
  • Participates in office set ups and renovations by moving furniture, file cabinets, office equipment, installing rugs, painting, and performing other facilities relates activities.
  • Delivers supplies to departments, and maintains, services, the organization’s van and keeps appropriate logs, and facilitates approved inspection/repairs as required.
  • Ensures that the Cafeteria is neat and clean, and that appliances/machines are working properly and well stocked. Troubleshoots problems and contacts vendors as directed.
  • Complies with established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Keeps manager updated to complete assignments and, as directed, purchase supplies.
  • Performs other duties as needed upon request by immediate supervisor.

The good faith range for this position is $21.00 - $25.50 per hour. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
