Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Head Facilities Serviceperson to supervise cleaning staff and perform skilled custodial work across school facilities. You will operate boilers, HVAC equipment, and lighting systems while ensuring security and safety standards are met.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3 years in facilities work, and the ability to manage schedules and respond to maintenance needs. Strong safety awareness is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of industrial, commercial, or educational facility experience.
• Ability to follow standard custodial practices.
• Able to act as Head Custodian in absence.
• Plan and direct work and schedules for others.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Understand energy conservation.
• Physically able to climb and use ladders and operate heavy-duty cleaning machinery.
• Complete required training program before applying.
• Must comply with bargaining agreement provisions.
• Computer skills as required.

Responsibilities

• Review work performed by Facilities staff and coordinate shift tasks.
• Instruct staff on use of supplies, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Perform duties of Facilities Serviceperson and Head Facilities Serviceperson when needed.
• Operate boilers, HVAC systems, and power sources.
• Change light bulbs and perform minor repairs as directed.
• Secure school premises and inspect perimeter before departure.
• Notify supervisor of supply needs and maintenance issues.
• Document time and materials for projects.
• Maintain safety standards and proper recording of activities.
