Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a Facilities Serviceperson to perform semi-skilled cleaning and maintenance in school facilities. You will mop, scrub, strip and refinish floors, clean restrooms, offices and gym areas, and assist with moving furniture and maintaining equipment.

The role requires basic facilities service training or the ability to obtain certification, heavy lifting, and adherence to safety rules. This is an on-site position within Broward County Public Schools.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English on cleaning and equipment operation.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Clean all areas assigned such as cafeteria, restrooms, offices, gymnasium and halls according to custodial standards.
• Empty trash cans and dispose of debris properly.
• Sweep, mop, wax floors and clean walls and surfaces.
• Lift and move heavy objects, including garbage cans and supplies.
• Wash and sanitize sinks, toilets and fixtures; replenish supplies.
• Replace light bulbs and clean fixtures; maintain equipment.
• Move school furniture as needed and assist with storage.
• Operate floor stripping and sealing machines in gym and stage areas.
