Position Summary
The Facilities Supervisor oversees the daily operations, preventive maintenance, structural repairs, and groundskeeping (including snow removal) for 26 Medina County facilities. This role exercises direct leadership over the Building Maintenance team and manages vendor and contractor relationships to execute capital improvements, system upgrades, and routine building operations. Working closely with the Facilities Director/Assistant Facilities Director, the supervisor ensures safe, fully functional, and compliant physical environments across all county properties while delivering high-quality service to county personnel and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Exercise direct supervision over the Building Maintenance team, including work assignments, performance evaluations, and technical guidance.
Promote a safe work environment, enforcing safety protocols and proper equipment operation across all maintenance activities.
Operations & Project Management
Plan, organize, and direct facilities operations, HVAC/building automation systems, technical repairs, structural renovations, and general maintenance services across multiple locations.
Proactively inspect and survey properties, structures, and systems to identify necessary repairs, safety hazards, and improvement opportunities.
Engage, supervise, and coordinate third-party contractors and consultants for specialized trade work and capital projects.
Oversee year-round grounds maintenance, including seasonal snow and ice removal operations for county parking lots and walkways.
Administration & Budgeting
Assist the Facilities Director/Assistant Director with estimating labor and material costs, developing project plans, and reviewing skilled trades work.
Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the department’s annual operating and maintenance budgets.
Deliver responsive customer service to county employees, department heads, and officials regarding building service requests and operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Associate’s degree (or 2 years of college-level coursework) in a maintenance-related field, PLUS2 years of progressively responsible experiencein municipal maintenance operations, including at least2 years in a supervisory role; OR
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licensure:Valid Ohio Driver’s License with a good driving record and proof of adequate vehicle insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
Facilities Management Certificate (FMC) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP) designation.
Working Conditions & Physical Expectations
Work Schedule: Primary day shift during core public operating hours (6:30 AM – 4:00 PM), with flexibility required for evenings, weekends, or emergency responses for 24/7 facilities.
