Job description

Welcome

The Superior Court of California, County of Riverside is seeking an experienced Facilities Supervisor to lead facilities operations within the Desert Region, inclusive of court locations in Blythe, Palm Springs and Indio. This position combines people leadership, facilities expertise, project coordination, problem‑solving, and customer service in a fast‑paced environment supporting Court operations throughout Riverside County.

As a Facilities Supervisor, you'll oversee the day‑to‑day work of Facilities Assistants, Facilities Maintenance staff, and Custodians while ensuring maintenance and facility services are completed efficiently and timely. You'll have full supervisory responsibility, including training and developing employees, evaluating performance, providing coaching and corrective action when necessary, and establishing clear expectations for your team.

You’ll also serve as an important partner to Court leadership, judicial officers, the Judicial Council of California, County of Riverside, Sheriff, vendors, and other stakeholders while coordinating projects and addressing facility needs.

In This Role, You Will
  • Lead and develop a facilities team, including assigning work, training employees, providing feedback, evaluating performance, and supporting employee development.
  • Prioritize, schedule, assign, and monitor facility maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Oversee the quality and timely completion of work performed throughout your assigned region.
  • Manage and coordinate facility maintenance projects, judicial moves, inspections, and other special projects.
  • Evaluate workflows, identify service or operational deficiencies, and implement process improvements.
  • Promote workplace safety and ensure appropriate use of PPE and compliance with applicable OSHA, ADA, Court, and other requirements.
  • Partner with Court management and other stakeholders to resolve facility concerns and coordinate upcoming work.
  • Track operational and performance information and prepare reports related to regional and employee activity.
  • Respond to complex facility issues and help develop practical solutions to operational challenges.
  • Serve as an emergency Court contact for assigned buildings and, when necessary, assist with facility emergencies after hours.

We're looking for a hands‑on leader and practical problem‑solver who knows how to balance people, projects, priorities, and unexpected challenges.

The ideal candidate can effectively supervise and develop employees, manage multiple priorities and interruptions, provide excellent customer service, coordinate projects across different stakeholders, and identify solutions when operational problems arise. The position also requires knowledge of facilities maintenance practices, safety precautions, minor repairs, tools and equipment, and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel formulas.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates may qualify through one of two pathways:

Option I: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management or a closely related field, plus one year of facilities maintenance experience and two years of lead or supervisory experience.

Option II: High school diploma or GED, plus three years of facilities maintenance or equivalent related experience and two years in a lead or supervisory role.

Both options require familiarity with OSHA and ADA guidelines. Knowledge of SAP and Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems is a plus.

The successful candidate must also obtain OSHA 10 certification and the Cal‑OSHA Asbestos O&M Initial 16‑hour course within six months of hire; these courses are Court funded.
