Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for creating an engaging environment for guests and team members. They oversee the daily operations of the Engineering department during their shift, including training, promoting, and retaining a skilled workforce to perform maintenance and construction duties safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.

1. Provide exceptional customer service, positively influencing interactions with guests and employees, and handle difficult customers professionally.
2. Train, motivate, evaluate, and manage staff, ensuring they have the guidance and resources to meet objectives.
3. Monitor all overtime, including scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency callbacks.
4. Support mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishing trades through delegation and hands-on work.
5. Conduct inspections related to new installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
6. Develop strategies to improve system performance and assist in long-term capital planning.
7. Manage inventory levels to ensure availability of parts while avoiding excess.
8. Participate in planning for facility expansion and modifications, ensuring engineering needs are met.
9. Collect data and prepare reports for regulatory compliance.
10. Inspect utilities and equipment, taking corrective action to prevent violations during safety inspections.
11. Provide expertise and resources for hazardous chemical management and spill cleanup, ensuring regulatory compliance.
12. Operate in environments with varying conditions and hazards, including chemicals, tools, and equipment.
13. Work outdoors in all weather conditions and around extreme heat, such as in boiler rooms.
14. Inspect all facility areas, including attics and basements, requiring climbing and reaching.
15. Use all relevant equipment and tools effectively.
16. Work flexible shifts and schedules as needed.

Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Environmental Management, plus at least five years of supervisory engineering experience, or a minimum of eight years’ progressive engineering experience in a comparable operation with supervisory roles. Additional skills include:

• Strong problem-solving, mediation, coaching, and consulting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in HotSOS, Coupa (P2P), and Microsoft Office
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• High energy and proactive approach to team member relations
• Effective collaboration and communication skills at all organizational levels
• Journeyman or master level in relevant trades
• Skilled in the use of maintenance tools and test equipment
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary licenses and certifications as per regulations
