Job summary

MSU Residential and Hospitality Services is seeking a Facilities Student Lead (Level 3) to supervise a student team performing routine building maintenance, including cleaning, event set-up, and repairs. You will help ensure a high quality standard in residence and dining halls at MSU, with duties across cleaning, setup, and minor repairs.

Responsibilities include team scheduling, payroll support, on-site training, and assisting with special projects under supervision.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year).
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service.
• Able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
• Have a well-rounded knowledge of facilities.
• Possess a valid U.S. Issued Drivers License and be able to meet and maintain the University’s driving standards.
• Able to work nights and weekends.

• Supervise student team members during washing of walls and windows, emptying trash, changing compactor carts, and cleaning bathroom walls.
• Clean upholstery and carpet, buff and scrub floors, and make minor repairs.
• Set-up and tear-down furniture after events.
• Assume responsibility for your team’s scheduling and performance.
• Perform administrative duties as assigned, such as assisting with payroll and scheduling for student staff.
• Conduct on-site training for new team members.
• Assist with any special projects as assigned by a facilities supervisor or manager.

As a Facilities Student Supervisor III, you will assist in supervising a team performing routine building maintenance, including cleaning, event set-up, and repairs. You will also be responsible for ensuring activities like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying trash are completed with the highest commitment to quality. In this role, you will work with a team to consistently keep the residence and dining halls at MSU looking and functioning their best.
