Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Steamfitter Technician to ensure uninterrupted operation of mechanical systems. You will inspect, install, test, and repair welded piping, boilers, steam and condensate systems, and related equipment.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, reviewing drawings, responding to emergencies, and maintaining safety and documentation as part of a team. A valid driver’s license and OSHA 10-hour card are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years’ experience in maintenance, pipefitting and/or welding trade and related equipment.
• Efficient skills and knowledge in using pipefitting and welding tools and equipment.
• Basic understanding of plumbing code compliance.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs and maintains welded piping systems and components per blueprints and drawings.
• Performs preventative maintenance on piping systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoots piping system issues (pressure, temperature, leaks).
• Documents labor, materials and work performed on work orders and submits purchase requests.
• Participates in emergency response teams and safety procedures.
