Job summary

Stanford University’s School of Engineering seeks a Facilities Specialist 1 to support two busy facilities with labs and teaching spaces. You will ensure safe, efficient operation, coordinate minor renovations, and manage daily maintenance while collaborating with a team of facilities professionals at the Stanford main campus.

The role requires independent work, strong communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Onsite work schedule is Monday–Friday at the main campus.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills and mature judgment to interact with a broad range of people.
• Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Experience working with internal and external vendors and services contracting.
• Background knowledge of safe handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste; emergency preparedness plans.

Responsibilities

• Serve as property operations / maintenance point of contact for facilities’ issues in assigned building(s).
• Coordinate and monitor routine maintenance services and vendor work with limited supervision.
• Identify, recommend and implement building operations and process modifications to increase productivity and reduce costs.
• Handle property administration including tagging, data entry, inventory, and space allocation decisions.
• Implement facility security programs and manage access records and security infrastructure.
• Coordinate projects including scheduling, budgeting, and execution for small, local initiatives.
• Participate in safety management, chemical inventory, disposal, and emergency preparedness coordination.
• Coordinate communications services (network, desktop support, telephony) and provide updates to occupants.
• Coordinate space management, move coordination, space inventory, and capacity planning.
