Job summary

The Equus Group, a premier healthcare facilities consulting firm, seeks a Senior Facilities Consultant to lead engagements with hospitals and health systems. You will assess facility conditions, guide capital investment strategy, and ensure compliance with healthcare codes and standards.

You will manage FCAs, capital planning, due diligence, and master planning, while mentoring staff and reviewing drawings in AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of healthcare facilities management or related consulting.
  • Experience with facility condition assessments, capital planning tools, and lifecycle cost modeling.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills; able to develop business cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to C-suite and clinical leadership.
  • Experience leading multiple client engagements and teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/architecture or related field; certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead facility condition assessments (FCAs) for hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings, overseeing junior consultants and technical staff.
  • Direct capital planning engagements, deferred maintenance prioritization, and long-range facility master planning for client health systems.
  • Evaluate and advise on compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code), and state/local healthcare licensing requirements.
  • Lead due diligence engagements for healthcare M&A, real estate transactions, and new facility development.
  • Review and mark up architectural and MEP drawings in AutoCAD to support space planning, life safety analysis, and design review.
  • Analyze space utilization and clinical workflow to recommend operational or design improvements.
  • Develop cost estimates, multi-year capital plans, and board-ready recommendations, presenting findings directly to client executive leadership.
  • Serve as primary client relationship owner for assigned engagements, managing scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level consultants on technical methodology and client management.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and hospital facilities/plant operations teams.
  • Travel to client sites as needed for assessments and stakeholder meetings.

Our client is a highly regarded firm that partners with hospitals, health systems, and ambulatory care providers to optimize their physical infrastructure, capital planning, and regulatory compliance. They are seeking a Senior Facilities Consultant to lead client engagements, working directly with executive and facilities leadership to assess facility conditions, guide capital investment strategy, and ensure compliance with healthcare-specific building codes and standards.


What You'll Do

What We're Looking For



  • 4+ years of experience in healthcare facilities management, engineering, architecture, or related consulting, with prior consulting or advisory experience preferred

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, including reading, marking up, and producing facility drawings and space plans

  • Extensive experience with facility condition assessments, capital planning tools, and lifecycle cost modeling

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including capital budgeting and business case development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to present to and influence C-suite and clinical leadership

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent client engagements and leading project teams

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, facilities management, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications such as CHFM, PMP, EDAC or LEED strongly preferred
